OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon Celebrates 20th Anniversary In 2023

An estimated 12,000 runners and walkers will converge on Downtown Columbus and surrounding neighborhoods on Saturday, April 29 as the OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon celebrates its 20^th Anniversary.

The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon has grown over the past two decades into Central Ohio’s spring celebration of the healthy and active lifestyle. More than 163,000 runners and walkers have participated and covered more than 1.7 million miles since the inaugural event attracted 3,800 participants in 2004.

“The Capital City Half Marathon has always been about the celebration and recognition of our participants and we can’t wait to Celebrate You again as we celebrate 20 years in 2023,” Race Director David Babner said.

This year’s event weekend will feature even more food and drink options at the Midwest’s best post-race party, new music and new race and post-race experiences.

• North to Nashville will headline the PNC Post-Race Concert
• The Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line Party will include more non-alcohol drink options from Athletic Brewing and G&J Pepsi along with signature drink options from White Claw Hard Seltzer, Teremana Margaritas, Campo Viejo and Cap City’s own 1 beer from Land Grant Brewing

This year’s event will again feature the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon (13.1 miles), OhioHealth Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles) and the Cap City 5K (3.1 miles).

OhioHealth has been the event’s title partner and Official Healthcare Provider and the OhioHealth Foundation been the Official Benefitting Charity since 2015.

The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, OhioHealth Quarter Marathon and Cap City 5K will begin at the corner of Town and Front Streets and take runners and walkers on the “best tour of Columbus on two feet” with a course that feature the Arena District, The Ohio State University campus, South Campus Gateway, Short North Arts District and German Village before finishing at High and Town streets.

The Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line Party and PNC Post-Race Party are held in the Columbus Commons.

The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon hosted the USA Half Marathon Championships in 2016 & 2017 and was named the “Best Half Marathon in Ohio” by DailyBurn, a national health and fitness company that provides workout and nutrition information to more than 2.5 million members.
