First Responder Heroes Challenge

At the OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon and Columbus Promise 5K, we are proud to celebrate the everyday heroes who serve and protect our communities.

The First Responders Heroes Challenge is our way of saying thank you to the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and first responders who show up for us—day in and day out.

Last year, more than 300 first responders joined us on race day. In 2026, we’re inviting every first responder to be part of this special celebration.

Whether you walk, jog, or run, this is your moment to step out of uniform, focus on your own health and wellness, and celebrate alongside your peers and the Central Ohio community.

Race weekend is about more than miles—it’s about recognition, gratitude, and celebration.
