Why the team concept? Because it's more fun and it leads to greater success! Studies show that when we set a goal on our own, we are less than 20% likely to achieve it, but when we have an accountability partner or team, we are more than 75% likely to achieve it (and have more fun in the process!)
Cap City offers you a fun way to invite your friends and family to commit to a goal and accomplish it together! Simply create a Social Team (when you register) and invite your friends to join your team. You can name your team anything that you like and your team members can sign up for any of the various races! (you don't all have to train for the same event!)
You have a group that shares your goals among each other and can help each other stay on track. We invite you to do something to distinguish yourself together on race day — whether it is a t-shirt, a headband, shoelaces — anything that can create a fun look that says, 'We are together in this'! We will have special team photos taken on the morning of the race, and these photos will be made available for download for you.
Another idea that your social team might want to consider is setting a fundraising goal to impact a charity of your choice. If you head out to the Cap City Half Marathon Crowdrise page, you'll see a variety of charities that we have selected that individuals can raise money for... but you can also select your own! All that you have to do is click on 'Start Fundraising Now' and the Crowdrise site will walk you through how to ask people to support you in your cause.

Once you click HERE or on the register online button located on the home page you will be taken to the registration page for The Capital City Half Marathon. During the registration process you will see the 'Organization' field — the first person to sign up for the team (this person will now be designated as the captain) will click the 'create a team' link and will enter in all of the required information. Once the team is created it will then appear in the drop down box for all other members to see and choose as they sign up for the event. Before creating a team please be sure to check that it hasn't already been created.
